Roberto Mancini: Says Inter Milan must give time to recently-appointed boss Andrea Stramaccioni

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has dismissed suggestions he would be tempted by a return to former club Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri have made a mixed start to the new Serie A campaign under recently-appointed boss Andrea Stramaccioni, having lost both of their two opening home matches against Roma and Siena.

Inter were also surprisingly held 2-2 by Europa League opponents Rubin Kazan at the San Siro and the troubled home form has already prompted the Italian media to speculate about Stramaccioni's future.

The 36-year-old coach, who impressed during his time in charge of Inter's Under-19 side, was promoted to lead the first-team after the dismissal of ex-Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri last season.

And Mancini, who won three successive Serie A titles with Inter between 2005 and 2008, insists Stramaccioni needs more time to succeed.

"I had a great time at Inter, but now it's the time for younger coaches," Mancini told Radio 2 Rai.

"And you have to have a little more patience. If you change a lot of players you cannot think to change coach if there are two bad games."

Meanwhile, Mancini has also pleaded with City striker Mario Balotelli not to "waste" his talent.

"He must understand that he has a big talent and he can't waste it in this way," he said of the Italy international.

"So, women, cigarettes, the beautiful life - he must leave them aside and think about being a football player."
