Celta Vigo vs Getafe preview - Bermejo desperate for Celta start

Celta Vigo striker Mario Bermejo is hoping to get his chance against Getafe after scoring in the Galicians' last home match against Osasuna.

The 33-year old started on the bench against Valencia last time out as manager Paco Herrera adopted a slightly more defensive system and Bermejo is desperate to get the nod.

He told AS: "I hope to start against Getafe. However, I am not worried whether I am going to play or not because my work will continue to be the same.

"Clearly there are moments when you are not playing so much and you can be crestfallen, but come the hour to train or play this doesn't matter."

He added: "They are dangerous away from home and it will be important to have patience. In the case that time passes and the goal hasn't arrived we cannot begin to get anxious. We have to be capable of controlling the game and developing our play."

Getafe boss Luis Garcia though is looking for his players to build on a solid start from a difficult run of fixtures as they now face a run of eminently winnable games.

The Madrid side have already faced Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla and the former Levante boss wants his side to be challenging those teams for a European place come the end of the season.

He told Marca: "Starting from the top seven we need to demand ourselves to be close. This is what I believe. In football there are many influences like injuries, luck, referees; but I think that we have to distance ourselves definitively from being a team that only fights to avoid relegation.

"We can be satisfied with four points. You always want more, but in the four games we have given good vibes. We have already played Real Madrid and Barcelona and now there are another block of games in which we have to try and close the gap on the middle zone of the table."
