Pescara vs Sampdoria preview - Ferrara wants more from in-form Samp

I have a say

Sampdoria coach Ciro Ferrara wants to make it three out of three when he takes his side to Pescara on Sunday to face a side looking to avoid their third straight defeat in Serie A.

A one-point penalty is all that is currently keeping the Blucerchiati from sitting atop the table, but they have the chance of climbing above Juventus, Lazio and Napoli with a win at the Stadio Adriatico tomorrow against a side who finished above them in Serie B last season.

The fact that Pescara won the second division last season while Samp climbed up via the play-offs is enough of a warning to Ferrara.

"It is going to be a difficult and delicate game," he said. "And this represents a big danger to us.

"I read about how this is an easy away game for us and that Samp can go there and win.

"Of course we will try that and we will put all of our effort into it, but we cannot think that we will find the Pescara who were beaten by Inter (Milan) after playing a good first half, or who lost at Torino.

"If we are the side we have been recently then we can give it a go and try to extend our winning streak."

Getting just one win, or even one point, on the board is the aim of Pescara coach Giovanni Stroppa, who is already under pressure after two defeats and six goals conceded.

"For us, the Sampdoria game is a bit of a turning point in the season," he said. "I expect a positive result, but also important answers in terms of the way we play."

He is also expecting good things from his 19-year-old midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, fresh from his first international call-up last week.

"He has improved a lot and I am delighted he got called up to the national team," said the Pescara coach.

"He is a player with a lot of tricks up his sleeve so he has got to have freedom to move."

Sampdoria could include Simon Poulsen in their squad for the first time. The Dane may be given a place on the bench after training fully with the team in recent days.
