Arbroath 2 : 0 East Fife - Arbroath take points with quickfire double
Posted Saturday, September 15, 2012 by PA
Two goals in as many minutes moved Arbroath up to third in the table in a 2-0 victory over East Fife.
Steven Doris fired the hosts into the lead on 25 minutes - an advantage which Derek Holmes then doubled less than two minutes later from close range.
Arbroath came into the match on the back of a moral-boosting win against fellow promotion hopefuls Stenhousemuir last week and Doris gave the home fans yet more to cheer when he took Holmes' pass and found the bottom corner of the net.
The two switched roles moments later as Doris' header picked out Holmes, who then tapped home from just a matter of yards.
East Fife never looked like equalising and Arbroath could have increased their advantage again through Doris as the striker went close from distance after the break.
