Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard insists his rivalry with David de Gea for the number 1 shirt at Old Trafford is good for the team.
Anders Lindegaard says the competition between himself and David de Gea is healthy
Lindegaard was brought into the side for United’s trip to Southampton in their last Premier League outing, after De Gea was dropped following another high-profile error against Fulham the previous week.
But the Dane is adamant the competition can only be a positive thing for both goalkeepers and boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
‘I have a very good relationship with David. We are very good friends,’ said the 28-year-old.
‘I have a lot of respect for him and I feel he has a lot of respect for me too. So it doesn't affect us at all.
‘From the first day he came to the club, we have both been telling each other, 'I think you can try to solve this situation in a different way.'
‘We always try and guide each other. I'm a bit older than him and he's a bit more experienced than me in terms of playing games. So we can help each other in a lot of things.’
