We fell to pieces: Cahill slams Chelsea showing after Super Cup humiliation
Posted Saturday, September 01, 2012 by
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill revealed his frustration after the Blues were humiliated by Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
Radamel Falcao scored a first-half hat-trick before Joao Miranda wrapped up the 4-1 win with a close range strike in the 60th minute, with Cahill's goal proving to be scant consolation.
The Blues looked anything but European champions in what was one of their most clueless performances since Roman Abramovich first began his quest for the greatest prize in club football.

Falcao showed Chelsea what might have been as the former target took advantage of some inept defending and tactical naivety to plunder a first-half treble, with Miranda piling on the misery.
'We played below par. Today we fell to pieces,' Cahill told Sky Sports.
'We started the game sloppy and that went right through the game. If we're honest with ourselves everyone was below par today and it was embarrassing at times.
'We approach every game in the same way. It was a massive game tonight and we let ourselves down and passed up a great opportunity.
'It is difficult. Obviously we will look to bounce back in the league as today was unacceptable.'
