BLAST ... Joey Barton has likened QPR to the Taliban
JOEY BARTON likened QPR to the Taliban last night — but believes his move to Marseille might be back on again.
The controversial midfielder, 29, admitted he was “heartbroken” when a proposed loan to the French club appeared to have fallen through.
He was unhappy at having to train with the R’s reserve and youth team yesterday afternoon, while the first-teamers prepared for last night’s Captial One Cup second-round clash at home to Walsall.
Barton tweeted: “Been forced to go back training with the kids and fellow Taliban members at 2pm today.”
Barton is serving a 12-match FA ban for the mayhem he caused at Manchester City on the final day of last season.
Rangers also stripped him of the captaincy, fined him £420,000 and axed him from their first-team squad after he got sent off for elbowing Carlos Tevez.
Barton then lashed out at Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany as he walked off the pitch.
The former Newcastle ace is hoping to sidestep his suspension in England and rebuild his career by going on loan to Marseille.
QPR are even willing to waive a loan fee provided the French club agreed to pay half of his £70,000-a- week wages while he was there.
All parties have been in talks for the past week and QPR are confident a deal could be done before Friday’s transfer deadline.
They have insisted all the way Barton will NOT leave on a free, though.
