Inquiry ... Darren and cousin Richard
A POLICEMAN cousin of Premier League ace Darren Bent has been arrested on suspicion of stealing cash and jewellery from the DEAD.
PC Richard Bent, 28, was held as detectives investigated a string of high-value thefts from crime victims who passed away.
Cops are also probing the theft of goods from the officer’s central London police station. Shocked Aston Villa striker Darren, 28, vowed to help a Scotland Yard inquiry after Richard claimed HE gave him the valuables as gifts.
England ace Darren was said to be fuming last night after being “dragged into” the investigation.
Richard shared a close friendship with the millionaire soccer idol.
Fellow officers discovered a haul of expensive items during a raid on the 28-year-old’s £350,000 flat.
