Vilanova retains confidence in Valdes

Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova insists goalkeeper Victor Valdes' recent performance against Real Madrid is not deserving of criticism.
Barcelona were leading 3-1 and looked to have secured a comfortable first leg SuperCopa victory over rivals Real Madrid, before Valdes attempted to dribble the ball past Angel Di Maria, allowing the Argentinean to score into an open net five minutes from time.
The custodian was condemned by supporters and media alike for allowing Los Blancos to score an unnecessary away goal, but his manager told the club's official website that his opinion of Valdes was not altered by the incident.
"I'm surprised that at this point in his career anybody could question him. The Club has 4 Champions League and he has been decisive in 3 of them," Vilanova stated.
"He is the best keeper in the world and the best keeper for Barça by a mile."
New signing Alex Song is expected to feature in the club's upcoming La Liga fixture against Osasuna, and Vilanova revealed that the midfielder has been impressive in training.
"He's only had a few days training with us, but we have had time to show him a number of moves, whether he plays at centre half or in the middle," he shared.
"He's been good in training - he comes from a club which trains in the same way that we do and try and hold onto the ball."
Barcelona will hope to keep up their winning run when they travel to Osasuna tonight [Sunday].
