I have a say

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has admitted that talks with Athletic Bilbao regarding the transfer of Javi Martinez have stagnated.

The retired striker is of the opinion that the Basques are deliberately raising obstacles to a potential deal, and the 60-year-old is hardly impressed with the Spanish club's obstinate approach.

"It looks at the moment that the transfer will not work out because the people in Bilbao are very, very stubborn and they are doing everything possible to prevent the transfer," he told N-TV.

"If the Athletic president was more willing to arrange a deal, he would accept 40 million euros rather quickly," he continued.

Despite meeting the 23-year-old's buyout clause of 40 million euros, Bilbao have continued to resist a potential deal with Bayern even though the player himself has expressed a desire to make the switch.

"After learning that Martinez was happy to move, we felt that we could reduce our offer from 10 million euros per season to 8m euros.

"Still, it is a crazy amount. We feel we are able to do this because we feel that we have been right regarding the issues that have arisen," he concluded.
