Santos, a £5.5million buy hailed as a “quality player” by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, lives in London with wife Suelen and their nine-month-old son Arthur. And he has acquired a taste for British institutions like fish and chips and Strictly Come Dancing.
Although his team-mates know he has fast motors, they take the mickey out of his Smart Car.
He says: “They joke, ‘This is not a player’s car — you bought it because you don’t have any money.’ But it is very cute and very practical for London.”
