No Pep talks with Brazil

Pep Guardiola's representative Josep Maria Orobitg has rejected reports that the former Barcelona coach is about to take charge of the Brazilian national team.

Brazil is currently coached by Mano Menezes, who was appointed to replace Dunga after the 2010 World Cup.

"There has never been any contact with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF)", Orobitg told sports daily Lance.

Guardiola's agent went on to reveal that he had been instructed by his client "not to negotiate with anyone" because he only wants to "rest" following his departure from Barcelona.

Guardiola decided against renewing his contract at the Nou Camp at the end of last season, despite being the most successful coach the club has ever had with 13 trophies won during his four-year tenure.

He cited exhaustion and the need to "recharge his batteries" due to the high demands of managing the Catalan club as his reasons for leaving the post.

His agent said Guardiola is currently "living happily in New York with his wife and children, who have already been registered for school".

However, he did confirm that Guardiola was approached to become the manager of the Russian national side, but the opportunity was declined. Russia went on to appoint former England boss Fabio Capello to the role.

"It's hard to talk about the future, but I don't think Pep will coach Brazil or any other national team, because he loves club football, particularly in Europe", Orobitg said.

Menezes' position as Brazil coach has come under pressure following defeat to Mexico in the gold medal match at the London Olympics.
