Juventus caretaker manager Massimo Carrera has been impressed with Juve's summer signing Paul Pogba and the team's preseason preparation as they look to retain its Serie A crown.
Speaking to the club's official website after their annual preseason friendly at Villar Perosa, where they triumphed 5-1, Carrera praised the 19 year-old Pogba.
“He’s a good player and above all a young talent... and can improve a great deal by training alongside champions,” Carrera stated.
Touted as a future France captain by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the talented midfielder turned down a new Manchester United contract in order to complete his move to Turin earlier this summer.
“It was a good workout for us,” added the former defender. “We’re about 70, 80 percent there and we also showed a good engine against Napoli by striving all the way to the bitter end.
“Our next appointment is in the Berlusconi Trophy on Sunday against Milan. We’ll assess the lads’ condition first and then decide who to play.”
Carrera does not face too many injury problems ahead of the upcoming campaign, although he is cautious to rush club vice-captain Giorgio Chiellini back into action.
“Chiellini missed out as a precaution [yesterday],” Carrera said. “He warmed up, but we decided against risking him.”
