Arbroath are again without centre-back pairing Stuart Malcolm and Scott Robertson through injury as they welcome Ayr to Gayfield.

Midfielder Paul Currie is also a doubt after he picked up a knock in Tuesday night's 3-2 success over Forfar in the Ramsdens Cup.

Player-boss Paul Sheerin is looking forward to pitting his wits against one of his former clubs and said: "I played for Ayr for 18 months and that included a League Cup final against Rangers at Hampden so it was quite a special time.

"I will put those good memories to the side as I want to take three points in what will be a real test for us against a side that have just come down from Division One."

Ayr welcome back Austin McCann from suspension as they head east to Gayfield.

Jonathan Tiffoney remains banned for the Honest Men but everyone else is fit and available to player-manager Mark Roberts.

The Somerset Park boss said: "This should be a really good game between two sides that like to keep the ball on the deck and pass it around at a ground that I have always enjoyed playing at.

"Last weekend against Stenhousemuir we scored a great goal through David Winters in the first half and then sat far too deep to try and close the game out. Hopefully we can get in front in this game and see things out properly."
