Dumbarton duo Mark Lamont and Mark Gilhaney look certain to start as they kick-off their home campaign in the First Division against old foes Cowdenbeath.

The duo were introduced as substitutes at half-time in last Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Airdrie United and manager Alan Adamson was impressed with how they tried to inspire a fight back from three goals down.

Summer signing Ross Forsyth could make his debut after a groin strain, but Pat Walker remains out with an ankle knock.

Adamson said: "The first half at Airdrie was dreadful but the Marks lifted us in the second and are very much in my thoughts to face a Cowdenbeath side we know well.

"It would be great to get that first win to settle everyone down."

Cowdenbeath are sweating on the fitness of captain Joe Mbu as they head to Dumbarton to resume rivalries with the side they defeated three times in Division Two last season.

Mbu injured his groin in the warm-up to Tuesday night's 3-0 Ramsdens Cup success over East Fife and is struggling to make the trip west.

The Blue Brazil have other injury worries with Liam Cusack and Mark Ramsay ruled out while Ruben Garcia Rey and David Cowan need to pass fitness tests to be included.

Central Park boss Colin Cameron said: "We have a few challenges but we are going there in positive fashion after a fine display in midweek.

"It was great to score three goals, however, the clean sheet was the real highlight."
