Rooney happy with United form! Forward encouraged by interplay with Kagawa in Hannover win
Wayne Rooney: Encouraged by Manchester United's form in Germany

Wayne Rooney is pleased with the understanding he is building with Shinji Kagawa after Manchester United's comeback win over Hannover.

Rooney scored twice before setting up Kagawa for the winner as United came back from two goals down to win 4-3 in Germany on Saturday evening.

Judging by their efforts against Hannover, the Red Devils still have considerable work to do defensively ahead of the new season.

But Rooney was encouraged by the attacking interplay that produced more goals in one night than the team had managed in the previous five games put together.

"It was end-to-end and we were a bit sloppy at times. We could have done better defending," the 26-year-old forward told MUTV.

"But I thought some of the play throughout the game was great. Some great link-up play between us.

"We've got the four goals which maybe we were lacking in pre-season and it's great to get them with the season coming up."

Clever

Asked if he enjoyed linking up with Kagawa, Rooney said: "It was great. Obviously he's a very clever player.

"The likes of himself, Chicharito and Tom (Cleverley) - there are players capable of getting on the ball and linking the play and it worked well for us tonight."

United do not have much time to iron out the defensive problems with the season opener at Goodison Park just a week away.

But Rooney believes Sir Alex Ferguson's team are edging their way back to their best after a difficult summer.

The England international added: "It's been a bit stop-start with the international players coming back a bit later but we've had to make sure we look after ourselves during the summer.

"I think tonight you can see that the players are looking better every game - fresher and fitter - and hopefully come next Monday against Everton we'll be ready because it'll be a difficult game."
