AMAZING RECOVERY ... Spurs winger Bale
MICHAEL DAWSON has leapt to Gareth Bale’s defence and insisted his Tottenham team-mate did NOT fake injury to get Charlie Adam in hot water.
Bale played 74 minutes and scored as Spurs beat New York Red Bulls 2-1 here in the USA yesterday.
His sensational showing came just 72 hours after he left the friendly against Liverpool in Baltimore in a protective boot following Adam’s X-rated challenge.
Bale branded Adam ‘a coward’ and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas called for the Scot to apologise.
But the Wales star’s rapid return to action raised questions about the severity of his injury.
However, Spurs skipper Dawson said: “There is no way Gareth was faking it.
“If you saw his ankle you would see it was badly bruised.”
This is not the first time Bale’s amazing powers of recovery have sparked controversy on this tour.
He was slammed for playing in the opening game of the US trip at LA Galaxy having pulled out of the Team GB squad with a back problem.
