Dutch international defender Ron Vlaar on Wednesday completed his move to Premier League side Aston Villa from Feyenoord on a three-year deal.

Villa had announced on Friday that Vlaar would be signing for them after agreeing personal terms, with the final obstacle of a medical cleared on Wednesday.

The fee is understood to be around £3 million ($4.7m) and centre-back Vlaar, who played for the Netherlands at Euro 2012, becomes Villa's fourth signing of the summer.

He is the second player to sign for new Villa boss Paul Lambert from the Rotterdam club following the arrival of midfielder Karim El Ahmadi, who cost a similar fee.

Australian winger Brett Holman, from AZ Alkmaar, and right-back Matthew Lowton, from Sheffield United, are the other arrivals at Villa Park so far this summer.

Vlaar's arrival at Villa comes on the same day that the West Midlands club allowed fellow centre-back James Collins to return to West Ham United.

The Wales defender has agreed a four-year contract, three seasons after leaving Upton Park for Villa, and moved for an undisclosed fee.
