MANCHESTER, England (AP) -- Senegal striker Moussa Konate scored late in the second half to salvage a 1-1 draw with host Britain in the Olympic football tournament Thursday.

Welshman Craig Bellamy gave Britain the lead in the first half after Senegal failed to clear a free kick by captain Ryan Giggs.

Senegal's attacking flair in the second half was rewarded in the 81st minute when Konate ran on to a through ball and chipped Britain's goalkeeper Jack Butland.

A frantic final few minutes saw Britain substitute Marvin Sordell hit the bar from close range and Konate could have scored a second, but his shot went wide.

The match in front of a capacity crowd at Old Trafford was Britain's first in an Olympic competition since 1960.
