U-TURN ... Man Utd midfielder Michael Carrick
MICHAEL CARRICK says he is ready to come out of international retirement.
The Manchester United midfielder, 30, told the FA in January that he no longer wanted to be considered for squads.
He was sick of being called up and never playing.
But asked if he would consider returning to the Three Lions under new boss Roy Hodgson, he said: “Yeah, I would consider it, definitely.”
For the first time Carrick has revealed the frustration he suffered during Fabio Capello’s England reign.
He said: “I haven’t said this before but at the 2010 World Cup I never featured and I was never really close to playing.
“I hadn’t played for two years so it was getting to that stage where I wasn’t really playing.
“I didn’t kick the door down and say ‘You’ve got to play me or I’ll leave’.
“It was more a case of if I wasn’t going to play, then I’d rather not go with England.
“If you’re not playing at my age, especially under Capello, then it’s not worth it. That was my decision.”
