Botafogo have signed Clarence Seedorf on a two-year deal, the club confirmed on Saturday.
The 36-year-old had long been linked with a move to South America upon the expiry of his contract at AC Milan.
However, after months of speculation and undertaking a punditry position with the BBC for coverage during Euro 2012, he will ply his trade in Rio de Janeiro for the next two seasons.
A statement on the club's official website reads: "Botafogo have completed the signing of 36-year-old Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf.
"He has signed a two-year contract with Botafogo. The date of his presentation will be announced at a later time. This is the biggest signing of a foreign player made by a Brazilian club."
Seedorf, who had also been linked to MLS side LA Galaxy and newly-promoted Premier League outfit West Ham, spent 10 years at Milan, winning two Serie A titles and two Champions Leagues during his time with the Rossoneri.
