RARING TO GO ... Roo is ready to return
WAYNE ROONEY will turn frustration into inspiration to lead England into the Euro 2012 quarter-finals.
Skipper Steven Gerrard is convinced Roo will burst into action in Tuesday’s Group D decider against Ukraine in Donetsk.
The Manchester United striker cannot wait to play again after his two-match ban.
And Gerrard said: “Wayne coming back is a massive boost for us.
“I said before the tournament the key thing was to get ourselves in a good position before Wayne got back and we’ve done that.
“Now having him back is a huge lift for the players, the supporters, the Press and everyone back home in England.”
So far Rooney has been chief cheerleader as England drew 1-1 with France before Friday’s dramatic 3-2 win over Sweden.
Roo and Co need a point to progress and Gerrard said: “He can’t wait. He’s itching to get out there.
“You can see from his face that he’s been really disappointed to miss out on those first two games.
“Now, hopefully, we will get the benefit of all that frustration.
“Wayne loves football, he’s always kicking a ball around in the dressing room. Now he can get out there and kick a ball for real.”
But Gerrard warned England must tighten up after conceding from two set-pieces against Sweden.
He said: “Ten minutes of madness almost cost us. We have to iron out those sort of mistakes.”
