Galaxy Fan Reaction: Robbie Keane Struggling to Find the Back of the Net in Euro 2012

During his career, Robbie Keane has scored plenty of goals. However, during Euro 2012, the Irish striker has struggled to find the back of the net. While the Republic of Ireland were considered underdogs in the tournament, it's still frustrating to see the Los Angeles Galaxy player fail to score.
Los Angeles Galaxy
When Robbie Keane came to Los Angeles, we were in need of a striker who could score goals. Keane replaced Juan Pablo Angel who, at the time, was having trouble finishing. In his first game with the Galaxy, Keane scored a goal. Overall, in 2011, he scored two goals in 275 minutes on the field. In the postseason, Keane continued to contribute with a goal in the 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake in the Conference Championship. He also set up Landon Donovan for the MLS Cup Championship winning goal. Flash forward to 2012 and the 31-year-old has scored three goals in 810 minutes. The last goal he made for the Galaxy was on March 31 against the New England Revolution. Before heading out on international duty, Keane was on a six-game scoring drought for the Galaxy.
International Duty
Unfortunately, Keane's scoring woes trickled into Ireland's Euro 2012 opener. Croatia overcame Ireland for a 3-1 victory. Keane had one good chance before the half. However, it was Sean St. Ledger who scored the lone goal for the Republic of Ireland. Things didn't get much better for Keane & Co. when they played Spain in Group C. With a 4-0 thrashing, the Spaniards knocked Ireland out of the running. Although they have been eliminated from the competition, Ireland will still face Italy on June 18 for their final group stage game.
A Collective Effort
At this point, I hope Keane can score to boost his morale. After having an unsuccessful start with the Galaxy, this disappointing performance with Ireland isn't helping his momentum. Yet, I believe "Ireland's record goal scorer" is still inside of Keane. The striker claims his scoring problem is a collective one. After all, after the game against Croatia, Keane lamented, "we weren't creating too many chances for ourselves and you can only score goals if you're getting opportunities." I suppose the Galaxy are having a problem playing as a team too. Yet, often times, I have seen L.A. create chances but fail to finish. I'm still looking forward to seeing Keane back at the Home Depot Center. He may be having trouble finding the back of the net. However, I think the Keane's scoring slump is about to end.
