Greece v Czech Republic
Posted Wednesday, June 13, 2012 by theguardian.com
Just seven minutes into the second half and Greece are handed a lifeline (and for once it's not a financial one) by Petr Cech. The Czech keeper came charging out to collect an aimless through ball but got in a muddle with his defender Tomas Sivok and the ball fell to Gekas. The Greek substitute had the easy task of rolling it into an empty net from 12 yards. It's a goal the Greeks don't deserve and, try as they might, the 2004 champions can't find an equaliser. Final score: Czech Republic 2-1 Greec
