Pepe: I never want to injure opponents

Real Madrid defender Pepe hit back against criticism that he enjoys deliberately hurting players in La Liga.
The Portuguese international, currently with the national team preparing for Euro 2012, is a rather controversial character in Spain.
He has been lambasted for his tendency to dive during matches and many believe that his competitive spirit has led to attempts to deliberately harm players in La Liga.
But the defender believes that his challenges are always fair and he insists that he has no need to defend his character.
"In Spain, everything I do has an impact. I have never intended to injure my opponent," insisted Pepe.
The 29-year-old is currently with the squad preparing for their first match against tournament favourites Germany. In a tough group that also includes World Cup runner-ups Holland and Denmark, he knows that it will not be easy for the Seleccao to reach the quarter-finals.
Much will depend on club team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo but Pepe warns against relying too much on their star winger.
"He is the star, but we cannot put all the responsibility on him," agreed Pepe.
"He is one player, he has experience, knows how to play big games and will do so in the best way."
Portugal play Germany on Saturday in their Group B opener.
