Wenger excited for "spectacular" Group B

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be keeping close watch on Group B of Euro 2012.

Dubbed the group of death for the upcoming edition of the European Championships, Group B has brought together three previous winners and a runner-up.

Unsurprisingly, it is anybody's guess as to which country - Denmark, Holland, Germany or Portugal, will come out on top.

Wenger believes the competitiveness on show within the group makes each game a mouth-watering prospect for spectators, but the Frenchman warned that there could be a surprising lack of goals.

"The goals are in there - it could be a spectacular group, but sometimes when the group is so close quality-wise, everybody is more concerned about not losing than winning. Sometimes the more strikers you have on the pitch, the less you get goals," Wenger said to Arsenal Player.

"You don't know, but it could be fantastic. It is a group everybody wants to watch."

As is the case in an assembly of closely-matched teams, Wenger considers it vital for each squad to play their best from the start. The Gunners manager will be casting his keen eyes over several of the club's playing staff due to participate in the group.

"The group stage is vital, sometimes to finish first or second can be decisive, so this group stage will be quite interesting, every single game, even when Germany plays against Denmark, or Holland against Denmark, is difficult," Wenger stated.

"We have Arsenal players in three of the four teams in there, Bendtner for Denmark, Podolski and Mertesacker [for Germany] and Van Persie [for Holland], so it will be interesting for us."
