Fenerbahce has announced on its official website that it has completed the transfer of Dirk Kuyt from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee. The versatile attacker has signed a three-year deal with the Istanbul club.
The Netherlands international had long been linked with a move away from Anfield, and has now opted to continue his career at Fener after previously turning down Feyenoord.
"Fenerbahce are a great club to continue my career. They only just missed out on the league title this season. They did qualify for the Champions League qualifiers, though," Kuyt stated to the official Sport-Promotion website.
"I needed a new challenge after six years with Liverpool. This has nothing to do with the club and the fans. They will forever have a place in my heart."
The 31-year-old Kuyt started his professional career with Utrecht and also wore the Feyenoord jersey before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2006.
He had since made 200 Premier League appearances for the Reds, scoring 51 goals in the process.
