Roy Hodgson: Pleased with Danny Welbeck's goal and England's defensive display against Belgium
Roy Hodgson expressed his delight after England beat Belgium 1-0 at Wembley in their final warm-up game before Euro 2012.
Danny Welbeck scored the only goal of the game with an excellent finish on 36 minutes, and Belgium rarely threatened to draw level.
Hodgson was particularly pleased with the defensive display, having also kept a clean sheet in his first game in charge against Norway last week.
"We have got to be very satisfied," he told Sky Sports News.
"We have played against a good team as well, a team that we knew would pose us a lot of questions.
"I have got to be delighted with the fact that we have won the game and again shown that we can keep teams at bay, even teams of the quality of Belgium.
Benefit
"I think Joe (Hart) was very competent but wasn't put under enormous pressure because we kept the Belgian team in front of us."
Hodgson was thrilled to see Welbeck grab the winning goal after an ankle problem had hampered the Manchester United striker's preparations.
"He hasn't played for a while and we were a little concerned when he joined us about how quickly the ankle injury would clear up," said the manager.
"This last week he has been training every day and he is the type of player who will benefit from that and by the fact he has scored a goal in one of his first internationals."
