Micky Hazard: Tottenham will not sell best players this summer

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not allow the club sell their most valuable players, according to White Hart Lane legend Micky Hazard.
Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have long been linked with moves away from north London, while Bundesliga side Schalke are reportedly readying a bid for Rafael van der Vaart.
Chelsea made three separate bids for the Croatian midfielder last year, but Levy stood firm and stuck to his promise of not allowing any star players to leave the club, and Hazard is expecting the chairman to adopt a similar approach this summer.
Hazard told TalkSport: “In the past Daniel Levy has stood firm when top players have wanted to leave,” he stated.
“At the start of last season, with Modric, I thought he did fantastic for the club. For me he has been brilliant like that.
“I wouldn’t expect him to change [his stance]. I think he realises we’re on the crest of a very, very good side, although mentally we need to step up to the next level."
Tottenham expected to wrap up the signing of Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen in the near future, with midfielder Marvin Martin and striker Luuk de Jong also linked recently, and Hazard believes the squad must be added to, not depleted.
Hazard added: "If we toughen up in that department there’s no reason why we can’t challenge for the title with the squad of players that we have got and one or two additions. I don’t think Levy will allow the top players to go.”
