Former Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg on Friday announced the signing of Dutch strike sensation Bas Dost, who finished as the Dutch league's top scorer with Heerenveen last season.

No financial details of the deal were revealed, but Wolfsburg, who won their only German top-flight title in 2009, were delighted to get their man.

"Bas has come on enormously in the past few years. He is very dangerous in the area and I'm sure he is destined to play a big role in our team," said coach Felix Magath.

Dost, who has played for the Dutch under-21 side, has been considered a major talent since beginning his professional career in 2007 with Emmen.

He quickly moved to Heracles Almelo, in the summer of 2008, and scored 17 goals in 61 appearances for the club.

Dost signed for Heerenveen in February 2010 and went on to showcase his talents in the 2011-12 season.

He scored 32 goals in 34 matches, including five goals in a match against Excelsior Rotterdam, as Heerenveen finished fifth in the Eredivisie.

Dost is Wolfsburg's second signing after Croatian Ivica Olic arrived from Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg finished eighth in the German top flight last season, thus missing out on qualifying for Europe.
