I have a say

Brazil midfielder Diego, who earlier this month won the Europa League title with Atletico Madrid, says he is resigned to returning to Wolfsburg when his loan spell in Spain expires next month.

"I think I'll be in Wolfsburg for the new season, because I still have two years left on my contract," the 27-year-old told German daily the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.

Diego was sent out on loan from Wolfsburg just before the transfer window closed at the end of August 2011 after a public falling-out with coach Felix Magath.

Having been dropped for Wolves' final game of the 2010-11 Bundesliga season against Hoffenheim, Diego refused to sit on the bench and then stormed out of the stadium.

His loan deal in Spain expires at the end of June.

The Brazilian said he has not recently spoken to Magath, but said he "knows when training (at Wolfsburg) will start. If the club doesn't sell me, I will be there."

Diego scored Atletico's final goal in their 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League final in Bucharest on May 9 and shortly after his triumph, Magath said he was looking forward to seeing the playmaker return to Wolfsburg.

"He has an agreement with us from July 1. For now, we wait until the resumption of training," said Magath, who coached Wolfsburg to the 2009 German league title.

Having also previously played for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, Diego joined Wolfsburg from Juventus on a four-year contract in August 2010.
