The Harrisburg City Islanders hosted the Rochester Rhinos on Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Skyline Sports Complex. The Rhinos had been undefeated so far this season. However, on Friday, the City Islanders changed that with a 1-0 win over the Rhinos. The Rhinos fell to second in the standings but the City Islanders rose to fourth. It was a somewhat unexpected victory for fans and it was a great game for those in attendance.
The game appeared to be a close one. Both were working hard, but the City Islanders were just a little better. The first half featured several opportunities for both teams that were blocked. It wasn't until shortly into the second half that the City Islanders were able to take control. Morgan Langley, who was briefly with the Philadelphia Union before returning to the City Islanders, got the game winning goal. Langley did not earn the win by himself, however. Another reason the team won was Nick Noble. Noble is the goalkeeper for the City Islanders and he made some great saves. It truly was a team effort.
Both teams will be playing in the third round of the U.S. Cup. Both teams will also be playing against Major League Soccer teams. The Rhinos will be playing against the Philadelphia Union and the City Islanders will be playing against the New England Revolution. Although the Rhinos will need to travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to play at PPL Park Stadium, the City Islanders will get to host the Revolution. The winning teams will then move on to the next round and the losing teams will be eliminated from the tournament. Fans should make sure to attend and cheer on their team. If the City Islanders can win or at least be the top team from USL Pro, the team will win a prize.
After playing against the Revolution, the City Islanders will be playing the Richmond Kickers at home. This game will take place on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Fans should be sure to get tickets to see the City Islanders on Tuesday, June 12. This game will be a good one. The City Islanders will be hosting the Philadelphia Union. There will be free parking for the event as it will be held at the Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
