Modric: Spain and Italy are favourites for Euro 2012 but Croatia can spoil their plans

Luka Modric freely admits that Croatia are in one of the toughest groups at Euro 2012, but the playmaker is adamant that his country can spring a surprise or two in Poland and Ukraine.
Slaven Bilic's side have been drawn alongside defending champions Spain, 2006 World Cup winners Italy and Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland.
Still, while Modric acknowledges that Croatia have it all to do if they are to reach the knockout stages, the midfield schemer believes they are capable of defying the odds.
"Everybody knows we're in a tough group," the Tottenham Hotspur star conceded during a press conference on Wednesday.
"The Irish are a fanatical football nation and they have a very good team with many experienced Premier League players.
"The Italians and the Spanish were world champions in 2006 and 2010. They are the favourites, but we will try to spoil their plans."
Croatia kick off their campaign against the Irish in Poznan on June 10.
