Emmanuel Adebayor keen to stay at Tottenham despite European setback

Emmanuel Adebayor remains keen to play for Tottenham Hotspur again next season despite the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Adebayor scored 18 goals during his season-long loan from Manchester City, and despite his reported wage packet of £175,000 a week being way above what Tottenham pay their top earners, the side are working to sign the striker on a permanent basis.
Chelsea's victory over Bayern Munich means Tottenham can not offer Adebayor Champions League football next term, but he still wants to stay at White Hart Lane.
Adebayor wrote on Twitter: "Loved my spell at Tottenham. We are working hard with the chairman to make it permanent. Will keep you informed!!"
The news that Adebayor is willing to stay at Spurs despite their demotion to the Europa League is a boost to the club. Gareth Bale hinted before Chelsea became European champions that he would consider leaving if Tottenham were not playing in the Champions League, while Luka Modric has refused to commit himself beyond the summer.
The chairman, Daniel Levy, who fought off interest from Chelsea in Modric last summer, has vowed to keep the club's top players and the manager, Harry Redknapp, is determined to add to his playing squad. Redknapp has been strongly linked with moves for the Marseille striker Loïc Rémy and the Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.
