Dumbarton secured a 2-1 victory over Arbroath in the first-leg of their play-off semi-final at the Dumbarton Football Stadium.

The visitors got off to a flying start when Stuart Malcolm rose highest to head home Josh Falkingham's cross in the sixth minute.

But they were pegged back 10 minutes later, Anthony Wallace with a simple finish after Darren Hill failed to hold on to Scott Agnew's original effort.

Alan Lithgow could have put the hosts ahead minutes before the interval but failed to direct his header on target from inside the six-yard box.

They did claim the lead just after the hour-mark, Bryan Prunty with a neat finish inside the area after a well-worked free-kick with Agnew.

Liam Caddis and Lee Sibanda both went close in the final minutes but the Sons held firm.
