Dumbarton vs Brechin City preview - Gastal in goal for Sons
Posted Saturday, May 05, 2012 by PA
Goalkeeper Arnaud Gastal will make his debut for play-off bound Dumbarton as they host Brechin in the Scottish Second Division.
Regular number one Stephen Grindlay is carrying a slight injury, allowing the Frenchman to fill in between the sticks.
Midfielder Scott Agnew is suspended and Ryan Finnie and Mark Lamont both miss out through knocks, so Sons boss Alan Adamson is likely to give some of his fringe players an opportunity to impress before they meet Arbroath on Wednesday.
Adamson said: "We have had a fantastic season and will remain in third place but I want us to be going into the play-offs on the back of three good wins.
"Brechin are probably disappointed not to be involved in the play-offs, so they will be out to end their season positively as well.
"It should be a good contest."
Defender Mick Dunlop has joined Brechin's injury list.
Gerry McLauchlan and Paul McManus remain on the sidelines with David McClune only fit enough for a place on the substitutes' bench
Jim Weir's side are looking to build on the point earned against champions Cowdenbeath last weekend that ensured their survival.
The Hedgemen boss said: "We got the point we needed but it would be nice to finish the season on a high with a win after four games without one.
"We have the chance now to make plans for next season and it will be good to do that having seen a good performance and having picked up three points at Dumbarton."
