Ramos always felt the fans' support

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos claims he always felt the fan's support - even during the club's darker days.

Real moved one step close to their first La Liga title in four years with a 3-0 victory over Sevilla on Sunday.

A second half strike from Cristiano Ronaldo and a brace from Karim Benzema settled the match which also brought up 200 wins for Ramos since his arrival at the Bernabeu.

"I have always felt the fans' support and they will always be in my heart," Ramos told the club's website.

"You can fare better or worse, but they're always there and I thank them for everything they've given me.

"Earning 200 victories with Real Madrid is important and I feel proud to play for this shirt. I'd like to do so for many more years.

"I hope to break many more records. Who would have known I would reach this far?"
Ramos signed for Madrid in the 2005/06 season and has won two league titles (2007, 2008), one Copa del Rey (2011) and one Spanish Super Cup (2008) since.

Barcelona's 7-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in Sunday's late kick-off means the current title race will run at least into midweek, with Madrid still seven points clear of the Catalans with three games remaining.

"We earned a rather important victory today [Sunday]. There is no time to feel sorry for oneself in football and we must fight to win the league title, which is very important because it requires sacrifice throughout the entire season," Ramos said.

"We can earn the title with great numbers, which would give us greater credit."

With Real finally set to end the dominance of bitter rivals Barcelona, this year's championship could prove to be all the more memorable for Ramos.

Madrid can sew up the title away to Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
