We are all happy for Cassano, says Abbiati after AC Milan's victory over Siena

AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has hailed the contribution of Antonio Cassano during Sunday's 4-1 triumph over Siena in Serie A, and vowed his team will not give up their league title easily.

The 30-year-old striker suffered an ischemic stroke back in October, falling ill on the plane home from the side's win at Roma, leading to some fearing the worst for the attacker's footballing career, especially with Euro 2012 lurking around the corner.

However, he made his comeback during the 2-1 loss against Fiorentina three weeks ago and marked his first start since October 26 with a fine all-round performance, including a goal and two assists for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"Cassano? We were very happy with his contribution as a starter today, and we are happy to have had a day like this," Abbiati said after the match.

"The Scudetto? Math tells us that we still have a chance, so we will try to win the next game and see what can happen."

Abbiati then reflected on the match against Siena, and applauded his team for being clinical in their finishing and remaining professional in their approach for the entire 90 minutes.

"We were good in possession and we have successfully exploited the opportunities created up front.

"We had the ability to control the contest and immediately after they pulled one back, we reacted quickly, and we did well to close out the match. There were some great goals on show."
