Real Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka believes that despite Pep Guardiola’s much-lauded success, the Barcelona boss will be all but a distant memory soon.
The Catalan trainer announced he will step down at the end of the season, but Karanka thinks that the impact of his decision is being blown out of proportion.
"The Spanish league has existed without Guardiola and will now continue without Guardiola," Karanka stated at a press conference.
"His numbers are there after four years. But he is history now, while the league will continue forever."
The 38-year-old then turned his attention to the challenges that lie ahead for los Blancos in La Liga.
"This team thinks and plays game by game. First, we have to win at Sevilla and then we'll think of the Athletic Bilbao encounter," he added
"If we get three points each time, there will be a happy ending to the title race for us."
