Ramirez's agent Pablo Bentancur has been quoted by the Italian media as saying Bologna have received the offer from an un-named Premier League club, believed to be the Reds, and that a decision will be reached at the end of this season.

The Uruguayan has been watched by English scouts on several occasions during the Serie A season, and, at 21, he is a highly rated prospect who club bosses are reluctant to release.

However, his future remains unclear following the substantial bid from England - which is sure to turn heads.

'Bologna have received an offer near to 20million euros from an important club in the Premier League,' Bentancur told Italian TV station TMW.

'Bologna will decide at the end of the season what they are going to do.'

Ramirez's profile fits with Kenny Dalglish's long-standing recruitment philosophy of signing young, up-and-coming talent with a view to developing the team over a longer term.

However, the 2011/12 season's performances - particularly at Anfield where Liverpool have won only five times in the League all year - have seen some sections of the support cast doubts over this approach, demanding the Reds invest in proven talent to compete for the Champions League places.
