Mark Roberts' goal gave Ayr a 1-0 win at Livingston to boost their hopes of avoiding a relegation play-off.

Livingston were close to taking the lead after a minute but Robert Barr was thwarted by a wonderful save from Kevin Cuthbert, who tipped the ball round the post.

He produced a fingertip save 10 minutes later to deny Keaghan Jacobs.

Roberts fired wide from close range after 14 minutes but made up for his error 10 minutes later, volleying in an inviting Keigan Parker cross.

John Robertson almost doubled the lead just after half-time, but Andrew McNeil tipped his volley over.

The Lions hit a post late on through Rory Boulding but Ayr held on.
