The 22-year-old said: 'If you are talking about Barcelona or Real Madrid, two of the biggest clubs in the world, it's a once-in-a-lifetime dream.
'If you said to any young player that you could play for Barcelona or Real would they turn it down?
'Probably not.'
Barca are also confident of landing their man because the uncertainty over Spurs boss Harry Redknapp's future may have unsettled Bale.
The Nou Camp club's bid could receive a further boost if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, as the Welshman will want to continue playing in the competition next season.
