A brace from Alvaro Negredo and one from Federico Fazio steered Sevilla to a comfortable 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Real Zaragoza at the Estadio Sanchez-Pizjuan.

Fazio headed the first after 10 minutes and Spain forward Negredo took his Primera Division goals tally to 10 with efforts in the 29th and 44th minutes.

The win took Sevilla up to seventh while Zaragoza remain second-bottom, now seven adrift of Villarreal after their win over Malaga earlier on Thursday evening.

Antonio Luna's volley following a Piotr Trochowski free-kick was the first chance of note for the hosts, and Luna was instrumental in the opening goal when his corner from the left was headed home by Fazio from six yards.

Jesus Navas' right-foot shot from 20 yards after 15 minutes sailed over the top, and the Spain winger was booked for dissent in the 28th minute.

Just over a minute later Sevilla doubled their lead as Manu del Moral steered the ball into the path of Negredo who rifled home from 12 yards.

Apono drilled a chance wide for the visitors soon afterwards, and they then had to bring him off due to an injury in the 35th minute, to be replaced by Franco Zuculini.

Negredo headed a chance wide with five minutes of the half left, but grabbed his second when he nodded home from close range after Manu's initial effort had been kept out by Zaragoza goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez.

Roberto did well to keep out a shot from Julien Escude following another Luna corner after 50 minutes, having also parried earlier efforts from Navas and Negredo.

Zuculini drew a smart save from Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop after an hour's play before Zaragoza's top scorer Helder Postiga was off-target from close range.

Navas was denied again by Roberto as the game headed towards the final 10 minutes and Fazio headed over another dangerous Luna corner.

The final chance fell to Croatian Ivan Rakitic - on for Negredo - but his spectacular 25-yard volley missed the target.
