Stirling Albion vs Airdrie United preview - Diamonds' squad cut down
Posted Saturday, March 31, 2012 by PA
Shaun Fagan and Andy Hunter will be absent for bottom-of-the-table Stirling when they host Airdrie.
Fagan is nursing a knock while fellow midfielder Hunter has a knee problem.
Ahead of the game against in-form United manager Grieg McDonald has reminded his players that they have got off the foot of the table before and they can do so again.
"We have battled out of this position already this season and I am sure we will again," he said. "The players gave me everything against Forfar last week only to lose to an injury-time goal but we are determined to bounce back.
"Airdrie are on a great run just now with three wins and three clean sheets and have held the upper hand over us this season but we can win this game."
Airdrie will arrive with a threadbare squad.
Paul Lovering is suspended and the veteran defender joins the injured Graeme Owens, Nathan Blockley, Scott Sally and Scott Morton on the list of absentees for the Diamonds.
United are looking to boost their promotion hopes by making it four wins in a row.
Boss Jimmy Boyle said: "Stirling will be fighting to get a win to boost their chances of avoiding relegation so we need to be ready for that.
"Our recent run has put us back into contention for a play-off spot and we need another win to keep the pressure on the sides above us."
