Agent: Van Bommel willing to take wage cut to return to PSV

Mark van Bommel's agent has intimated that the AC Milan midfielder is willing to take a wage cut in order to facilitate a return to PSV.

The Netherlands international is out of contract at the end of the season and may not sign a new deal with the Rossoneri.

The player's representative, Mino Raiola, has now admitted that his client remains keen on rejoining PSV even though he could make more money by moving elsewhere.

"There is still no agreement," Raiola says in De Telegraaf. "But it would not take long. If Mark wanted to move for the money, he would not go to PSV.

"We know PSV's wage cap. We know what the top players earn so we know what is possible."

Raiola also revealed that while there could be some dispute over the length of the contract, with PSV keen for the player to sign a two-year deal and Van Bommel unwilling to commit beyond one season, he feels that the issue would be easily resolved.

However, Van Bommel has already stated that he will not return if Louis van Gaal is appointed as coach and Raiola confirmed that the former Bayern Munich captain has no intention of backing down on that particular issue.

"[PSV technical director] Marcel [Brands] has effectively confirmed the appointment of Louis van Gaal, albeit not in not in so many words," he explained. "But he knows that a transfer will be taboo for Mark if Van Gaal is coach."

Van Bommel, who has been capped 71 times by his country, enjoyed a six-year stint at PSV between 1999 and 2005.
