Moratti only expects Ranieri to stay at Inter until end of season

I have a say

Inter president Massimo Moratti has intimated that Claudio Ranieri will part company with the club at the end of the current campaign.

The 60-year-old took charge of the Nerazzurri last September and inspired a dramatic upturn in the club's fortunes following a disastrous start to the season under previous boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

However, after propelling itself into Serie A title contention with a seven-game winning streak, Inter has endured a dreadful dip in form which has seen it win just two of its past 13 matches in all competitions.

Sunday's 2-0 defeat by Juventus in the Derby d'Italia heaped further pressure on Ranieri and when asked about his coach's future by reporters the following afternoon, Moratti would only say: "I think Ranieri will remain until the end of the season."

Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked by Chelsea earlier this month, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola and Pescara boss Zdenek Zeman have all been heavily linked with the Inter job in recent months.

However, there is mounting speculation that Andrea Stramaccioni, who led the Nerazzurri's Primavera to victory in the Next Generation Series on Sunday, could be appointed as Ranieri's successor.
