Referee should have given Real Madrid two 'enormous' penalties, says Mourinho

I have a say

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has stated his frustration with the referee's performance in his side's 1-1 Primera Division draw at home against Malaga on Sunday evening.

Karim Benzema gave the Liga leaders the advantage in the 35th minute and then had two penalty shouts turned down by referee Miguel Angel Gamez before Santi Cazorla levelled the scoring well into stoppage time, much to the dismay of Mourinho.

"I won't criticise the referee, but he should have given us two enormous penalties. It's all part of the Liga though," Mourinho said during the post-match press conference.

"I have no reason to be critical. It is normal to draw or lose every now and then. I'd have had reasons to be critical if it was the result of a poor attitude, but that's not the case. We got plenty of chances to score.

"I always take into account that we can win, draw or lose. We always do our utmost to win, but we had to settle for a draw. That's La Liga."

Real Madrid currently hold an eight-point lead over Barcelona in the Primera Division table.
