Mallorca vs Atletico de Madrid preview - Nunes wary of Atletico threat

Real Mallorca defender Jose Nunes does not believe Atletico Madrid will be affected by fatigue when they visit the Balearic Islands despite having faced Besiktas in Turkey in the Europa League on Thursday.
Atletico cruised into the quarter-finals with a 6-1 aggregate win over Besiktas, winning this week's second leg 3-0, and Nunes thinks the confidence that victory will have given Diego Simeone's side makes them even more dangerous opponents.
He told the club's website: "Sometimes physical tiredness is outweighed because you feel good and are confident.
"We are playing at home and it is very important to take the three points against a rival who is playing well, but it will be difficult."
Nunes is particularly impressed with the way that Simeone has turned around Atletico's defence since arriving in January.
"The numbers are there, they are a very strong team. The defensive work they are doing is very good, they don't give away cheap goals and since the manager arrived they are almost unbeaten.
"That shows the good work they are doing, but we have to impose our strengths, will and determination to win the game. We have to take advantage in areas that they aren't so strong to try to take the three points we need."
Fernando Tissone may miss out again for the hosts with the ankle injury that prevented him from taking part in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Valencia and Marvin Ogunjimi is definitely out, but midfielder Tomas Pina could feature after returning to full training during the week.
Simeone was understandably delighted with his side's progress in the Europa League but has stressed the importance of putting their European ambitions on hold and concentrating on league matters for the next couple of weeks.
He told the club's website: "We leave behind a very satisfactory tie and now we are in the process of recovering and deciding who is going to start on Sunday.
"We are facing a difficult opponent who have their own needs and are obliged to win. It will be very intense match and if we can respond with the type of performance we have shown recently it should be a good game."
Diego, Thiago and Silvio remain on the sidelines but otherwise Simeone has a full squad to choose from. However, he may make a few changes after fielding his strongest X1 on Thursday with another huge game against Athletic Bilbao coming up on Wednesday.
