Cerezo: Aguero owes Atletico explanation

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo feels that Sergio Aguero owes the club and its fans an explanation after his acrimonious departure in the summer.
Aguero was a firm fan favourite at the Vicente Calderon Stadium after helping them win the Copa del Rey and the Europa League in 2010 and was thought as the next man to bring the club to the next level after Fernando Torres left in 2007.
However, the Argentine left Atletico in less pleasant circumstances over the summer in a protracted transfer saga where he aired his wish to leave Atletico at the end of 2010-11 before joining City two months later in a £38million move.
Cerezo feels that Aguero should explain himself to the Rojiblancos, especially given the support the fans gave him in his five-year-stint there.
"We have a great affection for him, he was the fans' favourite player of all time," Cerezo is quoted by AS as saying.
"He did not leave Atletico the right way and it was his fault that this did not happen.
"He could have left perfectly well and with the support of the fans, but up to this day, we have not heard anything from him."
Atletico Madrid face a tricky trip to Turkey in the Europa League against Besiktas, but Cerezo is confident that the 3-1 win in the first leg is enough to see the Rojiblancos through to the next round.
"I am convinced that we will progress," Cerezo added. "We must take precautions, though, just like we would against any club who play in Europe, because they have great players and anything can happen.
"But if we play like we have been doing we will not have any problem."
