Atletico de Madrid vs Granada CF preview - Salvio looking to improve

Eduardo Salvio was Atletico Madrid's hero in midweek with two goals in the 3-1 win over Besiktas, but he insists he has to continue improving to keep his place in the side ahead of the meeting with Granada.

The Argentinean had only scored one goal all season prior to last weekend but now has three in two games after also netting Atleti's goal in the 1-1 draw with Sevilla last weekend.

He told the club's official website: "One always tries to contribute. It is true that I am delighted to have scored two goals but this doesn't end here. I have to remain calm and continue improving by working hard."

Diego Simone will be forced into at least one change from the side that started on Thursday as Filipe Luis is suspended, so Antonio Lopez should deputise at left-back and Diego remains out injured.

Granada coach Abel Resino, meanwhile, has a selection headache with four key players out suspended and many other doubtful through injury, however defender Borja Gomez believes it will be a good opportunity for some of the squad players to make their case for a more regular berth in the team.

He told Marca: "There are suspensions and a few injuries but we have a squad of 25 and it is good that everyone gets their chance to demonstrate that they can get into the team."

Gomez is also aware of the great form that Adrian Lopez has been showing of late and believes he and not top-scorer Radamel Falcao will be the real threat to his side.

"Everyone talks about Falcao but the game changer is Adrian. He always makes the difference and we need to pay special attention to him," he said.

Franco Jara, Dani Benitez, Fran Rico and Guillherme Siqueira are the four serving a ban, whilst goalkeeper Roberto and defender Pape Diakhate will be out for the best part of a month and Carlos Martins and Jaime Romero are doubts.

Those absences should mean a first start for Brazilian Henrique after his January move from Sao Paulo.
